We thought this would be a good opportunity to welcome exhibitors from TICA, Felis Britannica and GCCF and to offer our support to new and existing TICA exhibitors. Below are a few facts about TICA Shows that we feel may help people when deciding to enter a TICA Show for the first time.

Your cat/kitten does not have to be registered with TICA to enter a show.

The best way to learn about TICA Shows is to enter a cat and come along to the show. Oneforall Cat Club are welcoming new exhibitors from all registries with a talk from one of the Judges explaining how the cats are judged at TICA and the offer of a 'Buddy Scheme' from experienced exhibitors. (though in fact at TICA we know that all our experienced exhibitors are always helpful to new exhibitors!)

Each day at a TICA Show is in fact treated as a separate show so you can enter Saturday, Sunday or both it is entirely up to you.

TICA Shows have a different format to the usual shows in the U.K and are very exciting. TICA operates a ring system where you take your own cat to each ring throughout the day to be judged. Only yourself and each of the Judges will handle your cat.

At TICA Shows cats are judged at the central rings and not in the pen so there is no need to bring special show equipment for your pen! Simply bring bedding from home and your cats usual water and feeding bowl along with a litter tray to ensure your cat is comfortable in their pen while they are waiting to go up for judging.

Two cats from the same household can share one double pen and do not need to be separated whilst at the show. This can be very settling for kittens and cats who have not been shown before.

TICA do not have side classes and so each ring is in effect an opportunity to gain a title for your cat and we have five rings! (similar to having five Open Classes per day)

The most important aspect of TICA Shows is that they are always FUN!!!!!! We are proud of the camerardery and genuine friendship that we have at TICA and we feel sure you will enjoy every minute of the TICA Show experience.

We also think it may be useful to explain in laymans terms how a TICA Show works.........

Unlike the shows most exhibitors are used to in the U.K, TICA Shows are run in a ring format. What this basically means is that the show has numerous rings (five at our show) and each ring is in effect its own mini show. There are four sections in every ring Cats, Alters (neuters), Kittens and Household Pets. Every cat will go to every ring and compete for a place in the judges 'final' (basically his top ten cats). If your cat is lucky enough to final then this will count towards a title (similar to gaining a CC with GCCF or a CAC with FB), if your cat is lucky enough to final in various rings throughout the day then all these finals will count towards titles.

So all the cats will compete against each other as will all the kittens against each other and the same with the alters (neuters) and house hold pets. You may ask how on earth can you judge a Norwegian Forest against a Siamese????? Well actually it is simple whichever cat meets the standard of points to the highest degree is placed above the other! Just like Best In Show Judging at GCCF. As we have already said the best way to learn about a TICA Show is to give it a try, it is really good fun and you will find the other exhibitors friendly and helpful.
